Women and Youth for Inclusive Economic Development (WAYIED) is a women-led organization working to advance sexual and reproductive rights, education, women empowerment, and environmental sustainability through an inclusive and community-driven approach in Cameroon. It headquarters is in Buea, in the south west region of Cameroon.
WAYIED was founded in 2020 but formally registered on the 24 of January 2023 with registration: No. 54/G37/C84/VOL I/SAAJP/A3 by a group of passionate women who recognized the barriers faced by women and youth in achieving their full potential. Driven by a vision of inclusivity and sustainability, we’ve built projects that bridge gaps in education, reproductive health, and economic empowerment, particularly in underserved communities.
At WAYIED, we believe in the transformative power of inclusive development. We work tirelessly to uplift women and youth by addressing the challenges they face in accessing education, reproductive health services, and economic opportunities. Together, we can create sustainable communities where everyone thrives.
Our mission is to empower women and youth through education, access to reproductive rights, economic opportunities, and sustainable development, ensuring no one is left behind in the journey towards an inclusive future.
We envision a world where women and youth are empowered to lead, and communities flourish sustainably with equal opportunities for all.
We offer comprehensive education on reproductive health, rights, and services to women and youth. Through workshops, community outreach, and access to healthcare, we aim to reduce barriers to reproductive health and promote informed decision-making.
Many people in remote/ hard to reach areas in Cameroon particularly the southwest and North west conflict affected regions in Cameroon lack access to accurate and timely information about sexual and reproductive health (SRH) due to geographic, cultural, or economic barriers.
One of WAYIED’s key strategy to reach address the needs in these areas is the establishment of A hotline which serves as a lifeline, offering essential guidance on topics like: contraception, family planning, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and maternal health.
Our education initiatives focus on breaking the cycle of poverty by ensuring that girls and marginalized youth have access to quality education. We provide scholarships, mentorship programs, and advocacy for inclusive education policies..
